Psalm 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
The failure of the Christian church today is that it brings men to salvation without teaching the flock how their hearts can be healed. People are broken from abuse, abandonment, and many other issues in their past and these strongholds keep them from being their best for God. These are the people that get excited when they first come to Christ and are fired up for God, but as soon as they go back into the world, these strongholds keep them bound and do not allow them to break free. They return to where they started, become very disillusioned, and in return we get a weak and stale church.
Remember the parable of the sower? In Matthew 13, God shows us that the seed of the Word that is planted in bad ground will never take root. As leaders in the church, we must help prepare the soil so that when the Word is given it will take hold among the hearers and bear fruit. A good farmer prepares the soil before planting new seeds. He removes the rocks, the thorns, and any other obstructions that will keep the seed from prospering. And so as leaders in the church we must do the same. We must deal head on with the rocks and thorns in peoples lives that keep the Word from establishing strong roots and bearing fruit.
Here at New Vision Community Church we are committed to doing just that. We want Psalm 147:3 to be a reality in Christian lives so that with healed hearts Christians can in turn become dynamic leaders and bear fruit for God.
